The object and the method are different

A card, stone or mirror can take part in different practices. Describe what is done with the object: drawing, arranging, observing or using it as a conversational image. The material itself does not establish predictive ability.

For a historical object, look for a catalogue

Check the museum number, dating, findspot and documented use. Label a modern replica as such. An atmospheric photograph of an old table is not evidence of an ancient ritual.

Make your own inventory

For each object, record its name, origin, material and particular role in the exercise. Add which meanings come from an author and which are personal. Another person can then understand the practice without relying on suggestions of a hidden power.

Sources and further reading

The exercises and consultation principles are editorial proposals. The references provide context for the named practices; they do not verify an individual claim of prediction.
