Full Moon Ritual for Release and Gratitude
The full moon is a time for culmination, releasing the unnecessary, and gratitude. This ritual will help you let go of what no longer serves you and celebrate what you have achieved.
Best time
On the night of the full moon or up to three days after.
What you will need
- Black or white candle
- Sheet of paper and pen
- Fireproof container and matches/lighter
- Glass of water and salt
Ritual steps
- Preparation: Find a place where you can see the moon, if possible. Light the candle. In the glass of water, dissolve a pinch of salt to create cleansing water.
- Release: On the sheet of paper, write everything you want to release — fears, bad habits, toxic relationships, limiting beliefs. Be as specific as possible.
- Activation: Read what you wrote aloud. As you read, truly feel yourself parting with these things. When ready, say: "I release all of this with gratitude for the lessons it brought me. I no longer need it."
- Transformation: Carefully burn the paper in the fireproof container, imagining the fire transforming that energy. Let the paper burn completely.
- Gratitude and cleansing: Look at the moon (or simply imagine it) and give thanks for everything you have in your life right now. Lightly sprinkle the salt water around yourself to cleanse your energy field. The ashes from the burned paper can be buried in the ground or released into running water.
