What are runes?
Runes are the signs of the Elder Futhark, the old Germanic alphabet of 24 runes. Each rune carries its own meaning: Fehu is wealth, Algiz is protection. In a reading the runes are drawn at random and read together, and most of them also have a reversed meaning when they fall upside down. Here you cast one, three or five runes for free.

Where does the name “futhark” come from?
From the first six runes: Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raidho and Kenaz. Their first sounds give “futhark”, just as “alphabet” comes from the first two Greek letters, alpha and beta.
What does a reversed rune mean?
A reversed rune shows the harder side of its meaning: a delay, an obstacle or a lesson. Eight runes, among them Gebo, Isa and Dagaz, look the same both ways up and have no reversed meaning.
How do you read a three-rune spread?
The three runes are the past, the present and the outcome. They are read as a whole: one rune sets the theme, and the other two steer it.
