The road to Sofia

Born in 1864 in Hadarcha, now Nikolaevka, he studied in Bulgaria and America before travelling around Bulgaria. He settled permanently in Sofia in 1914 and gave Sunday lectures. An academic study follows the community’s gatherings as they moved from Varna and Tarnovo towards Sofia and Rila.

The lectures as an archive

The National Library’s bibliographical records identify lecture titles, dates and editions. A thought can therefore be traced to a particular volume and talk. These details help recover the context of a quotation attributed to Deunov.

The teaching beyond Bulgaria

BNR’s radio encyclopaedia of 1 July 2015 examines the spread of the teaching and Mihail Ivanov’s community in France. Members of the White Brotherhood contribute. The programme also questions a widely circulated quotation attributed to Einstein; it is not presented here as a verified statement by the physicist.
