Synastry: comparing two natal charts
Synastry compares two natal charts. Follow an example of an inter-chart aspect, explore house overlays and turn the reading into relationship questions.

Editorial illustration.
Keep the two charts separate
Synastry compares positions from two birth charts. Label whose planet each placement represents. If one birth time is unknown, do not treat that chart’s houses as established. Begin with the positions supported by the available data.
One checkable example
A’s Sun is at 10° Aries and B’s Moon at 12° Cancer. The distance is 92°: a square with a 2° orb. This is an inter-chart aspect. A’s own Sun and Moon may have no such aspect.
From the aspect to a conversation
Symbolically, the example may prompt a discussion about one person’s intention and another’s need for security. Ask “When does this happen between us?”. Actual behaviour, consent and ways of resolving conflict carry more weight than a compatibility score.
