Partnerships and direct relationships
The seventh house is associated with partnerships, agreements and direct relationships. This extends beyond romance: a business partner or collaborator can also belong to the discussion.
Read the cusp and its ruler
The Descendant lies opposite the Ascendant. In many systems it is the seventh cusp; in whole-sign houses it lies within the seventh sign. A Sagittarius cusp has Jupiter as its traditional ruler.

The starting cusp belongs to this house; the next cusp belongs to the following house. Numbering continues across 360° back to 0°. A different house system may assign the same planetary position to a different house.

Keep the neighbouring ideas separate
The seventh house is not a ready-made portrait of a future partner. The first and seventh houses help distinguish personal participation from the agreement between two people.

For a shared plan, write who undertakes what, how the agreement can change and how participation can end. This makes “partnership” specific.
