Composite chart: the midpoints of two charts
Find a zodiacal midpoint and distinguish a composite from synastry and a Davison chart.
One new constructed chart
A composite combines corresponding placements through midpoints: Sun with Sun, Moon with Moon and so on. The resulting chart is a mathematical construction. It need not represent a sky that existed at a particular moment.
Crossing 0° Aries
For positions at 350° and 10°, the shorter arc is 20°. Its midpoint is 0°, rather than the ordinary arithmetic average of 180°. Exactly opposite points have two equally distant midpoints; check the program’s convention.
Three different methods
Synastry retains two charts and compares their relationships. A composite uses midpoint positions. The Davison method uses a midpoint in time and place. Name the method beside the reading: “relationship chart” can otherwise conceal different calculations.
