Tarot, runes and other methods: how to compare them
Compare tarot, runes, crystals and other divination methods by their symbols, selection process and sources of meaning before assessing a reading.

Use the same questions for comparison
For each practice, ask what the elements are, how they are selected and where meanings come from. A deck has a particular set of images; rune work uses a selected writing system and a modern interpretation. Do not assume all sets follow the same rules.
Name the particular edition
Two decks may use similar names with different pictures and explanations. Record the author or edition instead of asserting “Tarot always means…”. For a historical claim, seek a source for the period rather than a modern shop description.
Choice reflects interest, not a guarantee
You may prefer one system’s images for a personal journal. This does not show that it predicts better than another. Comparing accuracy requires specific claims recorded in advance under comparable conditions, rather than impressions after a reading.
