A title is not evidence

Someone may sincerely believe they have a gift. Sincerity and accuracy are separate questions. Rather than judging a confident tone, examine the precise claim and whether it can be checked.

Skills can be described clearly

Careful listening, clear language and familiarity with a symbolic system are skills that can be practised. They should not be presented as access to hidden facts about a client. State when you are interpreting and when you are using information already shared.

A useful conversational boundary

“This is my suggestion; does it fit your experience?” leaves room for an answer. If the person says no, record the mismatch. Claiming that they are “not ready to see the truth” makes the assertion impossible to test.
