Personal resources and possessions
The second house is associated with personal resources, possessions and values. Distinguish what is available from what you hope to acquire. A symbolic description is not an assessment of income or solvency.
Read the cusp and its ruler
Read the cusp and its ruler, then the planets in the house. A Cancer cusp leads to the Moon. A planet adds an interpretive theme; its presence does not tell you the balance of a bank account.
Locate the house in the teaching chart
| House begins | 15° Cancer |
|---|---|
| Start longitude | 105° |
| Next cusp | 135° |
| Width | 30° |
The starting cusp belongs to this house; the next cusp belongs to the following house. Numbering continues across 360° back to 0°. A different house system may assign the same planetary position to a different house.
Equal-house teaching diagram. The first sector begins at the Ascendant; unequal house systems produce different divisions.
Keep the neighbouring ideas separate
The second house concerns personal resources; the eighth concerns shared resources and interdependence. A joint expense may require discussing both areas.
A question for your notes
Choose an aim and list the resources actually available: time, a skill or an item. Name what is still missing so that a valued idea is not confused with secured execution.

Questions about this lesson
Does an empty house mean this area is missing?
No. A house remains part of the chart even without a planet in it. Astrologers also examine its cusp and ruler.
