Cinnamon

Which plant is it?

Look for the species on the label. The word cinnamon does not tell you whether a product is Ceylon cinnamon or cassia, or whether it is intended as food or fragrance.

The illustration is a study aid. Use a botanical identification reference or a qualified specialist before collecting plants for consumption.

Symbolism and ritual meaning

Warmth: a stick can accompany seasonal decorations and memories of home.

Well-being: its attributed connection to money is symbolic. Blowing powder across a threshold does not create income.

A personal ritual with cinnamon

Use a whole stick in a decorative arrangement beside a written goal. This includes the scent without scattering fine powder.

Place it in a nonflammable dish away from flames. Do not add it to a burning candle.

Precautions

Cinnamon oils and powder can irritate skin. Cassia may contain substantial coumarin; prolonged supplement use is a separate matter from using a culinary spice.
