Square in astrology: the 90° aspect

What a square means
A square has an exact angle of 90°. Astrologers often read it as tension between themes that are difficult to satisfy in the same way.
Name the particular conflict to make the description useful. The word “difficult” alone does not explain a situation or predict failure.

Cancer starts at 90° zodiacal longitude. The Moon at 12° Cancer is at 102°; the Sun at 10° Aries is at 10°. Their separation is 92°.
The orb from a square is |92° − 90°| = 2°. These are teaching positions. The calculation establishes geometry, not a person’s life story.
Explore the 90° angle
The diagram starts at 92°. Move point B to 90°, then 88°. Both 88° and 92° have a 2° deviation, on different sides of the exact angle.
Choose an exact aspect, then move point B to see the deviation.
This measures the angle only. Whether an orb is accepted depends on the method, planets and context.
Two demands on the same time
Imagine wanting to finish a personal project while needing a predictable evening routine. The exercise connects a solar aim and a lunar habit as two demands on limited time.
Separate them: what result do you want from the project, and how much rest do you need? Then choose a feasible amount of work. This gives the discussion of tension a concrete setting.
A difficult aspect does not mean a dangerous person
A square is not evidence of violence, illness or inevitable conflict. Assess conduct through facts about a person’s actions.
When comparing it with an opposition, check the angle: a square is a quarter-circle and an opposition is a half-circle. Both may be discussed through tension, but their geometry differs.
